BS 9-How to Deal with Fools

A. NEVER CALL ANYONE A FOOL

1. (Matthew 5:22 KJV) But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

B. PRIDE IS THE MARK OF A FOOL

2. (Proverbs 14:3 KJV) In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.

3.(Psalms 14:1 KJV) To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

4. (Luke 11:39-40 KJV) And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness. {40} Ye fools, did not he that made that which is without make that which is within also?

C. WHAT GOD THINKS ABOUT FOOLS

5. (Ecclesiastes 5:4 KJV) When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.

6. (Proverbs 24:9 KJV) The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.

D. THERE IS A "REVELATION OF THE FOOL"

7. (Proverbs 14:7 KJV) Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.

F. THE FOOL CHECKLIST! (Have you ever met one?)

A VERY GOOD TALKER AND A POOR LISTENER

8. (Ecclesiastes 5:3 KJV) For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words.

9. (Proverbs 17:28 KJV) Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.

THEY TELL EVERYTHING THEY KNOW

10. (Proverbs 29:11 KJV) A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.

11. (Proverbs 10:18 KJV) He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.

QUICK TEMPERED

12. (Proverbs 12:16 KJV) A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.

THE MEDDLE (butt in, pry, snoop, interfere)

13. (Proverbs 20:3 KJV) It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.

THEY ARE CONTENTIOUS (aggressive, controversial, argumentative)

14. (Proverbs 18:6 KJV) A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes.

THEY STIR UP STRIFE (conflict, antagonism, discord)

15. (Proverbs 28:25 KJV) He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.

UNTEACHABLE IN CERTAIN AREAS

16. (Proverbs 1:7 KJV) The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

17. (Romans 1:31 KJV) Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

FOOLS MOCK THEIR OWN SIN

18. (Proverbs 14:9 KJV) Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.

F. HOW TO DEAL WITH A FOOL

19. (Proverbs 9:6-8 KJV) Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding. {7} He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot. {8} Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

G. HAVE YOU EVER HAD A FOOL "JUMP IN YOUR STUFF"?

21. (Proverbs 29:9 KJV) If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.

22. (Proverbs 27:3 KJV) A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's wrath is heavier than them both.

H. WHY IS IT SO HARD FOR CHRISTIANS TO WALK AWAY FROM A FOOL?

23. (Matthew 5:9 KJV) Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

24. (Isaiah 58:12 KJV) And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

25. (Romans 12:18 KJV) If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

I. WHAT SHOULD WE DO? SHUT UP AND LEAVE! PRAY FOR THEM

26. (Proverbs 23:9 KJV) Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words.

27. (Proverbs 26:4 KJV) Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.

28. (Proverbs 29:9 KJV) If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.

29. (Proverbs 13:20 KJV) He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

J. YOU CANíT CHANGE A FOOL

30. (Proverbs 27:22 KJV) Though thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, yet will not his foolishness depart from him.

(Proverbs 27:22 NKJV) Though you grind a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with crushed grain, Yet his foolishness will not depart from him.
